Something unusual happened:

North Carolina, like many states, has been pushing school vouchers to supplement the cost of private schools. (If you have no idea what I'm talking about, read my article on them here). But over the last month the inequity of this program was revealed:

  1. Not all private schools have to accept these vouchers.
  2. So many NC residents applied, the state will have to turn students away.

Advocates for school voucher programs have declared this to be a great opportunity for all students to attend private school...but with the program providing only a fraction of the cost of most private schools now turning students away, I'm confused how this will be the opportunity that turns education around for North Carolina students.

Don't live in NC? This is just one example of how disorganized voucher programs have hurt communities. It's important to pay attention to issues like this, because states tend to copy each other.

🎥 OMG Finally! I released my video on using crayola colors of the world skin tone crayons. This video will teach you how to introduce skin tone crayons and is also oddly satisfying to watch.

🙆‍♀️ feels so good: I recently bough a 36 inch foam roller and ahhhhh my back has never felt better. Recommended to me by a friend that's a physical therapist, I lay on it for 5 minutes after my workday. I can feel my back relaxing.

🧺 spring cleaning: These white baskets look nice and are a great catchall in my living room. I have them in several sizes so my home has a clean, cohesive look (just don't look inside the baskets lol). Right now they are 20% off!

📚 got me thinking: I just finished reading Happiness Falls by Angie Kim. This book shares the story of a family raising a child with severe autism. When their dad goes missing, his son who cannot speak becomes the only witness and biggest suspect. When I started this book, I thought it would be a thriller, but instead it was a poignant look into a very vulnerable family.

👩‍🚀 a youtube channel for your kids: Miss Sarah is the founder of Standards Made Silly. Dressed as an astronaut, she guides K-2 students to learn through movement and song. Your kids will forget they're learning!
